ReTrack removed, Refinements expanded

To further improve treatment quality, we’re making the following updates:

  • ReTrack is no longer available as an option
  • Refinements have been expanded (more options)
  • Longer package turnaround time for greater treatment flexibility

These changes provide a more predictable treatment progression and greater control throughout the entire aligner treatment.

Retrack removed from packages as of January 1

After internal consultation, it has been decided that, as of January 1, the packages will no longer include retracks. The retrack has been removed because no adjustments could be added to it, while many users frequently needed such modifications.

Instead of a retrack, a Superimposition report can now be requested. In addition, most packages have been adjusted and expanded with a longer duration and/or an extra refinement. The reason for this is that the necessary or desired adjustments can be incorporated within refinements.

Previously, a retrack was recommended when a treatment plan stalled. Under the new workflow, if a treatment plan stalls, we advise taking a new scan or impression and requesting a Superimposition report.

This report can be requested via the chatroom on the TrioClear® platform; without a new scan or impression, the report cannot be created.

The TrioClear® platform simulation includes a Superimposition function. By opening the report and enabling this function, we can assess together with you exactly where the patient is within the treatment plan. Based on this, it can be determined whether the treatment can continue by reusing the existing aligners, or whether the deviation is too large and a refinement should be created based on the submitted scan.

The Superimposition report can also be requested during treatment to check whether the process is progressing according to plan. If you have doubts during the course of treatment, this report provides an additional control option. These reports are included in the packages.

The Superimposition report is substantively comparable to the retrack report, with the difference that no new aligners are produced. Instead, the existing aligners are worn again. It is therefore very important that patients keep all aligners until the treatment plan is fully completed and the stabilization period has ended.

We also recommend keeping the aligners during the stabilisation period with retainers. This allows for quick intervention in case of relapse.

Storing aligners will therefore play a more important role in future treatments.

If, after reviewing the Superimposition report, it appears that the patient deviates too much from the treatment plan or that additional adjustments are needed to achieve the desired result, a refinement will be recommended.

This refinement can be requested via the platform and will be created based on the same scan used for the Superimposition report. Once the refinement plan is available online, it is important to carefully review it and ensure that it provides the desired and achievable outcome.

It is always important to thoroughly review a treatment plan before approval and verify whether the planned movements are realistic and support the desired end result.
With the new packages, this becomes even more important. Particularly with refinements, careful evaluation is crucial: if the initial treatment plan does not achieve the desired result, the process may stall and additional adjustments may be required to ultimately reach the goal.

When requesting a refinement, we ask that you complete the request as fully and clearly as possible. Indicate what you aim to achieve and where the treatment plan may have stalled. Without a complete request, it can be difficult for our designers to accurately assess what is needed or desired, as they are not physically present during the treatment.

The submitted visual materials form an important basis for the treatment plan, but the additional information you provide is essential to arrive at a complete and appropriate treatment plan.
