Lava™

The Lava™ All-Ceramic System by 3M.

Benefits

Considerations

Benefits

  • Very strong and accurate
  • Excellent long-term stability
  • Resistant to fracture and crack propagation
  • Excellent marginal fit
  • Higher translucency

Considerations

  • Traditional cementation with 3M ESPE Ketac™ Cem or RelyX™ Luting Cement is recommended for cementing crowns and bridges made from Lava™ system materials for every restoration type
  • Ceramics employed are issued with US IdentCeram® certificates to verify the American Dental Association classification and content of the restorative materials

Lava™ is part of the All-Ceramic System, which encompasses a CAD/CAM procedure for the creation of all-ceramic crowns and bridges for anterior and posterior applications. The framework ceramic consists of zirconia with a specially designed overlying veneer ceramic.

3 Lava™ options available:

Lava™ Classic is a brand product (3M™) and has a long-term history of success. Lava™ Classic is very versatile and can be used for a number of different indications.

Lava™ Plus is a branded and recognised product from manufacturer 3M™. It offers a high level of translucency and excellent long-term aesthetics for posterior restorations and some anterior situations where a more translucent zirconia is desired.

Lava™ Ultimate exhibits excellent wear resistance as well as lower wear on opposing teeth compared to glass ceramics. It retains its polish over an extended period and is stronger than CERAMAGE® for inlay/onlays and resin veneers.

Note: The shades of the underlying stump and cement need to be considered as any discolouration may affect the final shade of the restoration.
